Valla Beach Yellow Bellied Gliders - Locally Extinct?

It appears that the illegal clearing of the land on the western side of Ocean View Road has led to the extinction, locally, of Yellow Bellied Gliders - one of our most beautiful and rare species.

The land that was illegally cleared was prime old growth with many hollow bearing habitat trees - ideal Yellow Bellied Glider country.

Residents living adjacent to Valla Nature Reserve used to regularly hear, and occasionally see them at night.

No Yellow Bellied Gliders have been seen or heard since the clearing was done.

This illegal clearing has destroyed the nesting sites and reduced the overall area of habitat to the point where not even one breeding pair can survive.

It is thought that the Yellow Bellied Glider is now extinct at Valla Beach.
